My connection is not consistent...

If your connection isn't consistent, or you get intermittent signal loss, here are a few things you can try before calling Technical Support (530-759-1570):

1) If you're using Windows XP, try updating to Service Pack 1.  If you currently have an internet connection, click Here to download and install it.

2) Make sure if you're using Windows, you have all the current Critical Updates by clicking Here.

3) If you're getting a poor connection, try setting your wireless connection speed at a lower rate like: 2Mbps or 5.5Mbps.  This won't effect your internet speeds, but may increase your signal strength.  Since each adapter can go about doing this a different way, refer to your adapters documentation for more information on how to do this.

4) Make sure your wireless antenna isn't in a confined, low area.  Your antenna should be at least as high as your computer monitor (assuming you're using a USB adapter), and in a clean open area away from any metal objects.  If this still does not help, try slowly moving your wireless unit while watching the signal meter on the bottom right of your computer screen.  Some areas may get better signal than others.

5) Take notice when using a cordless phone, or microwave.  If you notice your wireless connection going out while using one of these objects, there could be a frequency overlap problem.  If you notice this being a problem, refrain from using the device in question while using your wireless connection.  Most newer devices should not interfere with your wireless connection, but keep an eye on it nonetheless.
